Building Resilient Students

Resilience isn’t just about enduring tough times; it’s about thriving in spite of them.

Helping Families Find The Support They Need

Mental resilience plays a crucial role in our students’ success, happiness, and overall wellbeing. It’s why we provide tailored resources to encourage and uplift our students as they deal with the challenges of school–and life. Whether your child is facing academic pressures, personal stressors, or simply seeking guidance, our aim is to help families find the support they need.

  1. Encourage social connections. Talk with your child about how to develop an offline social network.
  2. Create a supportive home environment. Be physically and emotionally available for your child. Car rides are a great time to talk.
  3. Provide opportunities for goal setting and reflection.
  4. Learn to problem solve together.
  5. Build grit by praising effort.
  6. Celebrate progress and build on strengths. Encourage them to believe in themselves and their unique abilities.
  7. Encourage breaks. A break from social media or from a negative friend group can help your child reset.
  8. Help your student identify sources of stress and explore healthy ways to cope.
  9. Keep failures in perspective. Failure is part of learning and growing. Hearing stories of resilience helps your child to cope with failures, bounce back, and move forward when faced with adversity.
  10. Encourage service to others by helping a fellow student, neighbor, or volunteering.
